We are now several weeks into our our new service contract with Willimantic Waste Paper and our residents seem to be pleased with the new provider and are getting comfortable with the revised bulky waste program and automated trash pick-up.  Nearly 5,200 wheeled carts were delivered by Willimantic Waste Paper during June for the start of this new service in July.  The first few weeks had only a small number of missed stops and transition problems and we expect that this will only improve as the contractor’s team gets more familiar with our neighborhoods and program requirements.

Beginning in August, homeowners were able to purchase one additional tote if they found that their needs exceed the capacity of the original 95 gallon unit.  The cost for this additional unit is $80, and families interested in obtaining a second tote should contact Willimantic Waste Paper directly to make arrangements for payment and delivery (1-800-286-5335 or 423-4527).  Remember that each single family household is limited to a maximum of two totes.

Families that found the tote to be overly large have also been provided the opportunity to swap it out for a 65 gallon container.  This particular service has also been very popular, with over 100 households receiving the smaller totes.  Anyone interested in swapping out the large tote for a smaller one or in purchasing a second small one should contact Willimantic Waste as soon as possible.  Families requesting this service are advised that there is a substantial lead time for these smaller units.  Additionally there are only a limited number of these smaller totes available and after September 30th we may not be able to fulfill your request.
