Important Information Regarding Your Tax Bills from the Collector of Revenue’s Office
Posted December 14th, 2007Tax bills for the second installment for real estate, motor vehicle and personal property for the 2006 Grand List are being mailed. For this year ONLY, we are sending out a separate bill for taxes due January 1, 2008. The last day to pay is Friday, February 1, 2008 at 12:00 noon. Any payment postmarked or received after February 1, 2008 will be subject to interest of 1 1/2% per month (18% per annum) from the due date of January 1, 2008.
If your real estate taxes are escrowed and you have received the bill, please forward the bill to your bank or mortgage company immediately.
Please read all your bills carefully. If “Back Taxes Also Due†appears on your bill, please call the Tax Office at (860) 871-3657 ot 871-3654 for what is past due. Back taxes, interest and other fees must be paid in full before payment is applied to a current bill.
Credit card payments must be made via the telephone at 1-800-272-9829 or the internet at www.officialpayments.com. Tolland’s Jurisdiction Code is 1740. NO CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE TAX OFFICE. A confirmation number will be assigned to retain for your records. There will be a nominal fee charged for this service.
Motor vehicle supplemental bills for those taxpayers who have registered a vehicle after October 1, 2006, but before July 31, 2007, will be mailed in December. These bills will also be due January 1, 2008, and the last day to pay will be Friday, February 1, 2008 at 12:00 noon.
Our office hours are Monday through Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  Remember, the last day to pay without penalty is Friday, February 1, 2008. Â
