Information Regarding Your Tax Bill
Posted June 26th, 2008The Tolland Tax Office has mailed 21,922 tax bills for the 2007 Grand List totaling $35,785,741.84. Tax bills are due July 1, 2008 and the last day to pay without interest is August 1, 2008. If you bill is over $100.00 you may pay it in full in July or choose the two installments, July and January. The second payments are due January 1, 2009 and the last day to pay without interest is February 2, 2009. You will not receive a bill for the January installment, so mark your calendars and keep your original bills for January. Motor vehicle bills may have more than one vehicle per page. Please read the insert enclosed with your tax bills for details, and if you have questions, you may call the Tax Office at 871-3657 or 871-3654. When making a payment, make sure to include the July portion of the original bill. If you require a receipt, include all copies of the original bill and a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
Important Notice: the Town Offices, including the Tax Office, will be closing early on Thursday, July 3rd at 4:00 p.m. and are closed all day (8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) on Friday, July 4th.
Interest is charged according to state statute at 1 1/2 % per month (18% annum) from the original due date of July 1 or January 1. The minimum interest charge is $2.00 per bill number.
The Town of Tolland offers, for your convenience, Credit Card payments for Real Estate, Motor Vehicle, and Personal Property taxes. MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover are accepted. Payments must be made via the telephone at 1-800-272-9829 or the Internet (click here), not at the Tax Office. If you receive a bill for a vehicle that you have sold, please call the Assessor’s Office at 871-3650 for information on required proof needed to have the bill adjusted or removed from the Grand List.
If you have sold your real estate after October 1, 2007 and you have received the tax bill for that property, please return it to the Tax Office as soon as possible. If your real estate taxes are escrowed and you have received the tax bill, call you bank or mortgage company and forward the bill to them immediately.

1. Notify the Tax Collector’s Office of your new address
2. Report change of address to the DMV (license and registration)
3. Your July motor vehicle bill is from the town where your vehicle was registered on October 1, 2007
