Recycling Update
May 11, 2009
The Town of Tolland does not have a dedicated site for disposal of fluorescent light bulbs. There are places where residents can bring them. The Household Chemical Waste Drop-Off Facility at 57 Hancock Road in Willington will take the 4 foot and 8 foot tubes but not the compact light bulbs (twist type). The Home Depot will take both types of fluorescent light bulbs for free. Moreover, a list of additional recycling facilities can be found on www.earth911.com. In addition, more information about fluorescent light bulbs from the EPA can be found at www.epa.gov/bulbrecycling. Also, we are still having problems with residents not calling Willimantic Waste for their bulky waste pick up. The telephone number is (800) 286-5335. Bulky waste pick up is the first full week of the month and has to be called in four days prior to their regular solid waste pick up.
