Property Tax Collection News

Posted June 29th, 2010

Tax bills for Real Estate, Personal Property, and Motor Vehicles will be mailed to Tolland property owners at the end of June; you should have the bills around July 1, 2010.  Real Estate bills which are being paid by your bank will be sent directly to the bank; if you get a Real Estate bill and your bank should have gotten it, please send it to them immediately with a reminder that they are supposed to be paying it.  If you haven’t gotten a bill by the end of the first full week in July, please get in touch and we’ll check on it for you.

These tax bills will say “due July 1, 2010” on them, which means that you have the entire month of July as a grace period; the very last day to pay without interest is Monday, August 2, 2010.

If you use one of the lockboxes located outside of Town Hall you must still place your payment in there before the close of business on the last day to pay, otherwise they will be opened on Tuesday, August 3, will be considered late, and interest will have been added.  It is wise not to wait until the very last day, in fact, the middle of July is an optimum time to pay because lines will be short and the process will be efficient.

Thank you, and Happy New Fiscal Year!
