A Message From Steve Werbner, Town Manager

November 5, 2011

It is now 3:00 pm. and I have just met with our CL &P representative. The news is no better at this point. Our percentage outage has gone from 50% to 56% which to me means we are going in the wrong direction. Our elderly housing complex remains without power due to a problem with the pole in the area. This is a priority, but no time frame for repair is given. We have one line crew on Old Stafford road and a crew in Willington working on Rt. 32 feeder lines. The crew working on Old Post has not completed their work, but it appears they have left. The four line crews we were to receive have not shown up. Roads with low hanging wires interfering with fire apparatus include potions of Browns Bridge Road, Cook Road, Eastview Terrace, Fox Ridge Drive, Gottier Road, Grahaber Road, Grandview Street, Harriet Drive, Kozley Road, Mountain Spring Road, Nedwied Road, Shenipsit Lake Road, Sugar Hill Road, Webber Road, Willie Circle. Numerous other roads have wires lying on the side of the road. Read the rest of this entry »

In addition we continue to have no power at our elderly housing complex which houses 30 elderly residents nor have we had any progress on some 25 roads that have low or downed wires that are causing problems with emergency apparatus.  Read the rest of this entry »

The generator at THS is down for 2 hours.  Between now and noon you should go to Star Hill to shower.  After the generator is up and running Tolland High School is open for showers only — there will be no food or water provided and not being used as a shelter.

Storm debris can be dropped off at Cross Farms starting 11/4/11 from 8 a.m. until dusk and spoiled food can be brought to the dumpster at the Tolland Highway Garage starting today 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Line and tree crews have arrived in Tolland from South Carolina and will be working in Tolland for the remainder of the day.  Hopefully following that crews will start to work on energizing lines for power restoration.

The Library will also be closed on Thursday, Nov. 3rd and the Town Hall hours for will be from 9:00 am-5:00 pm on Thursday, 11/3.
