    CONSERVING TOLLAND:

Conserving Tolland was founded in 2000 as a grassroots group to proactively encourage action to conserve and preserve land in Tolland.  Since Conserving Tolland’s work began, the town has passed the 1,200 acre milestone in acres of land conserved.  Some landowners have also chosen to donate their land for permanent protection.  The townspeople have warmly supported 3 separate referenda for $2 million each to allow bonding authority.  The Town has received over $2 million in matching State and Federal grants.  The Town Council responded to the residents’ wishes by purchasing land and easements to protect land in perpetuity.  Conserving Tolland has been invited to numerous towns in the State to give advice to Conservation Commissions and other conservation groups interested in grass roots work.  The group has been awarded the Conservation Group of the Year award by the Joshua Land Trust and is recognized by State and Federal groups for a record of success.  Please visit our website for trail maps and other information on land conservation. Conserving Tolland is a non-profit 501C3.
