WHEREAS the Town of Tolland recognizes that municipal government should assume a leadership role in promoting the efficient use of energy and natural resources, which is in the best interest of the protection and enhancement of the Town’s environment, economy as well as the health of the current and future generation of residents. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Tolland Town Council appoints a Tolland Energy Task Force which shall be constituted of not more than thirteen Tolland Town Taxpayers and shall be reviewed on an annual basis and shall be charged as follows: 1. Make recommendations on means of improving municipal (including Board of Education) and community energy efficiencies including consideration of alternative energy sources. 2. Review energy systems in all municipal and education buildings, using already existing studies and any new information that may be necessary. 3. Review energy usage by all Town-owned vehicles. 4. Recommend policies pertaining to energy efficiency which should be considered by the Town Council. 5. Research, formulate and oversee community education programs. 6. Identify and make recommendations regarding energy grant options. The deadline for the Task Force’s first report to the Town Council was at their December 9, 2008 meeting.
