The Building Official is licensed by the State to administer and enforce the Connecticut State Building Code and all reference standards required to ensure public safety, health and welfare. The office issues all building permits for commercial and residential buildings and additions, as well as certificates of occupancy on new construction. The Building Inspector is qualified to review and inspect concrete work, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, sprinkler systems and the work of all other related trades. The Staff of this department interacts with the other staff of the Division of Planning and Community Development and provides advice to staff and elected boards and commissions on an as needed basis.
