The Tolland Tax office has issued 15,261 Motor Vehicle bills, 790 Personal Property bills and 6059 Real Estate bills on the 10/01/2008 Grand List.  Many of these bills were transmitted directly to escrow banks and/or leasing companies.  For the third year running Motor Vehicles bills have been “clubbed”, or combined on statements which included others for the same owner.  This has saved the Town of Tolland taxpayers $2,081.12 in postage and handling.  The total potential income for this billing is $36,063,109.28

If anyone has a question about a vehicle they have acquired, traded, or sold please call the Assessor’s Office at 871-3650 as they are the authority for checking and adjusting values. Anyone who pays taxes in escrow and has received a Real Estate bill should forward it immediately to their bank with a reminder that they must pay it on time.  Questions concerning payment details should be directed to the Collector’s Office at 871-3657.

Taxpayers will receive two payment coupons; please send the designated portion in with your payment and keep the second portion as a reminder to pay in January.  Only bills of $100.00 or more have a second installment but all bills can be paid in full in July.  This is the last time Motor Vehicle bills will be split; as of July 1, 2010 Motor Vehicle bills will be paid in full in July. 

The final day to pay the July tax bills without interest is Monday August 3, 2009.  Payments must be received by the close of the business day on Monday August 3, 2009.  Care should be exercised in using either of the drop boxes outside of Town Hall.  Items left after 4:30 on the last day of the grace period will not be received until the next morning, so will be considered late and interest will be charged.  In order to avoid this taxpayers may have their payments post marked any time on August 3, 2009 or they may use their credit (until midnight Eastern Daylight Savings Time on August 3, 2009) at Official Payments ~ officialpayments.com or 1-800-272-9829, Jurisdiction 1740.  A convenience fee is charged for this service.  Our mailing address is PO Box 948 Tolland CT 06084.

Taxpayers should also be reminded that Town Hall has new office hours ~ Monday – Wednesday 8 AM – 4:30 PM, Thursday 8 AM – 7:30 PM, closed all day on Friday.
