The fishing season begins on Saturday, April 16th.  Fishing licenses are available in the Town Clerk’s Office during normal business hours.  This year the cost of a Resident Inland Fishing license is $28, Resident Marine Fishing is $10 and Resident All Waters Fishing license is $32.  If you purchased a license/permit between the dates of October 1, 2009 and April 14, 2010 you may be due a credit.  To obtain your credit, you MUST purchase your 2011 license, permit or tag by mail or in person at one of the following DEP locations.  The DEP offices are located in Old Lyme, Marlborough, Harwinton, Franklin, Burlington and the Department of Environmental Protection Office in Hartford.  Please note that the new law only allows the Department of Environmental Protection Offices to offer credits to the customer at the time they purchase their new license/permits.  DEP does not have the ability to issue a refund to a customer for a license purchased either online or at an agent location.

Fishing, hunting and combination licenses may be applied for in the Town Clerk’s Office.  Licenses are valid for a calendar year.  Bow permits are purchased through the State DEP but the applications are available at the Town Clerk’s Office.  First-time hunters must present a Connecticut hunters safety certificate when purchasing a license.  Others must have a hunting license less than five years old.  The Town Clerk’s Office also sells fishing and hunting licenses to non-residents who hold a current hunting license from their own state.  Pheasant tags and state bird stamps may also be purchased at the Town Clerk’s Office.

Applications for permits to hunt deer and turkey, along with hunting and fishing guides, are also available, along with applications for state boating certification and boating guides.
