The Tolland Public Library Foundation has been the recipient of a generous gift from Dr. Elizabeth King Eaton. The Phoebe Dimock King and Elizabeth C. King Eaton Endowment will allow the library to purchase books, magazines, journals, and software that are otherwise unaffordable.
The library has purchased four new databases that are available for use. Ancestry.com can only be accessed from within the library; the other three–Credo Reference, ConsumerReports.com, and NoveList may be accessed remotely as well as from within the library. You will need your library barcode number. Click on the links below to access.
1. Credo Reference Unlimited—Library Journal’s Best Reference Award 2009. Full text of more than 440 titles. This databases has hundreds of reference books covering every major topic, including art, medicine, history, technology, and literature.
2. Ancestry.com–Ancestry Library Edition brings the world’s most popular consumer online genealogy resource to the library. It’s an unprecedented online collection of over 4 billion individuals from North America, Europe, Australia, and more. Includes over 4 billion records in census data, vital records, directories, photos, and more. Not accessible remotely. Must be accessed in the library.
3. ConsumerReports.org—Known as one of the most trusted resources for information and advice on consumer products, this award-winning website contains information that enables consumers to make better purchasing decisions on the products they are shopping for. In addition, users will find advice and tips on saving money on home improvement plans, how to shore up personal finances, ways to improve health and much more.
4. NoveList Plus–Helps libraries and their patrons find that next great read. With information on over 250,000 fiction and readable nonfiction titles included, plus feature content including lists of award-winning books, Book Discussion Guides, BookTalks, Recommended Reads and more, NoveList Plus is a complete readers’ resource
