Animal Carcasses and Feces must be disposed of on-site and at least seventy-five (75) feet from private wells.

Ashes pose a serious safety hazard and will not be picked up.

Household hazardous waste should be brought to the chemical waste collection center at MidNEROC Chemical Waste Drop-Off Facility, 57 Hancock Road, Willington, CT (Rt. 320/Ruby Road or Exit 71 off of I-84); telephone: 860-684-3163; hours: 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., from April through the 1st week of November.

Paint Cans (latex only) containing paint will not be picked up. Cans which are wiped clean may be placed with the metal pick-up or in your recycling bin if the can is clean. Methods for removing paint from cans include wiping clean with rags or using material to soak up the paint such as kitty litter or shavings, which can then be disposed of in your regular trash. Cans containing liquid paint cannot go in the trash.

Latex paint only can be disposed of dry in the trash; oil paint can be dropped off at the MidNEROC Chemical Waste Drop-Off Facility, 57 Hancock Road, Willington, CT (Rt. 320/Ruby Road or Exit 71 off of I-84); telephone: 860-684-3163; hours: 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., from April through the 1st week of November.

Placement of totes - under the regulations, homeowners must not place their wheeled garbage totes out at the curbside more than 24 hours in advance of the designated pick up day.

Recycling carts must be placed with rolling totes.

Recycling – no plastic bags please!  Plastic bags may be brought to your local grocery store for recycling.

Refuse and recycling containers shall be removed on the same day as the collection to a location where the unit is not visible from the road – vegetative or other screening may be used to shield the unit(s) from sight, however such screening shall be in compliance with applicable zoning regulations.

Tires on rims will not be picked up as trash unless they are physically separated from each other. Two tires per regular trash pick-up collection are the limit.

Unacceptable items such as hazardous materials (i.e., oil-based paints, automobile fluids, pesticides/rodenticides), rocks, logs, stumps, and large truck and tractor tires are not picked up at curbside. PRE-TREATED LUMBER IS ALSO AN UNACCEPTABLE ITEM.
