Dog Licenses

Town Hall is open to the public.  Residents can license their dogs in person, by mail, by utilizing the drop box located in parking lot A on Old Post Road, or by renewing your eligible licenses online. Any documents you send in the mail or drop off in the drop box will be returned when we mail you your license and tags

Yearly dog licenses must be purchased when a dog reaches the age of 6 months or within 30 days of adopting an older dog and every June thereafter. Reminders will be sent out the end of May for the June licensing season.

In order to obtain a dog license, a valid rabies certificate must be provided or be on file.

Tolland is now offering residents the convenience of renewing your dog licenses online by using your MasterCard, Visa, Discover credit or debit card.  Simply click the link provided above.  This is for license renewals only.  First time licenses must be obtained in person or by mail.  A valid rabies vaccination must be on file.  An additional convenience fee of $1.75 will be charged per license to allow for this online service.

Spayed/Neutered $8.00*

Unaltered $19.00

People moving to Tolland from another Connecticut town with a current dog license can transfer the license for a fee of $1.00.  Please provide your current license.

A late fee of $1.00 per month will be imposed for each dog not licensed within the month of June.

Kennel Licenses

Anyone who breeds more than two litters of dogs annually is required to purchase a kennel license.  Anyone who breeds one or two litters of dogs annually may apply for a kennel license.

Fees

Up to 10 Dogs $51.00

Up to 20 Dogs $102.00

A late fee of $1.00 per month per number of dogs will be imposed for each license not aquired within the month of June.

Zoning regulates the keeping of more than 6 dogs over 6 months old and also the boarding, treating and grooming of dogs. Please contact the Zoning Enforcement Officer.

When licensing your dog by mail, please send your check made payable to the Town of Tolland, the Certificate of Rabies if the one on file has expired or when registering a new dog, and the Spay/Neuter Certificate, if applicable to Town Clerk, 21 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT 06084. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of your tags.  All original paperwork will be returned with your license and tags.
