Main Parking Lot at Hicks Memorial Municipal Center & Library (12/27/11)

The main parking lot at the Hicks Memorial Municipal Center & Library is now open for the public and staff.  Temporary paving has occurred and light poles have been installed.   The concrete that was poured for the walkways have not been sealed and can not be sealed until the weather is above 60 degrees so that means no salt can be spread on the walks or it will destroy them.  The Town crew will do its best to keep them clear and put a little sand on them when they get iced up.   When we do get snow, please watch your step and walk carefully.

Update on Main Municipal Parking Lot for Hicks Memorial Municipal Center and Library (12/19/11)

The main Municipal Parking Lot (behind Town Hall) will be open to the public and Town staff as of Tuesday, 12/20.  There will be cones in some parking spaces that will not be available due to the installation of light poles.  Thanks for all your patience during this construction time.

Temporary Parking Lot Changes to Rear Parking Lot of Hicks Memorial Municipal Center & Library (12/6/11)
 
The parking lot entrance on Old Post Road will be closed for next two days, Tuesday, December 6th and Wednesday, December 7th, while W.J. Mountford Company completes a section of the sidewalk and the geothermal piping into the building.  You can continue to park on the street and lower parking lot across from the Tolland Intermediate School and access the rear of the building through the newly paved sidewalk on Old Post Road.  If you wish to enter the Library from this entrance you can proceed through the gym.    A portion of the parking lot in front of the Library has been reopened.  This portion of the parking lot can be accessed by driving through the parking lot of the United Congregational Church, 43 Tolland Green. 

Town Hall & Library Construction Update (10/27/11)

The Town of Tolland is currently embarking on three construction projects at the Town Hall and Library.  Town staff is working closely with the design professionals and contractors to assure that first and foremost safety is the number one priority around the construction work.   Therefore, from time to time entrances to certain parts of the building will be restricted.  Every effort will be made to complete this essential work as quickly as possible with the least inconvenience to residents.

PARKING LOT:  Until the completion of the installation of the geothermal wells, the parking lot will continue to be reduced.  This activity will continue for several more weeks. 

CHANGE IN LIBRARY HOURS AND ACCESS:  The current skylight removal and replacement is scheduled for next week.  Therefore, the Library hours will be reduced to allow for the safe removal of the skylight.  There may be one or two days during this period that the main entrance to the Library will be closed and the side entrance will be used.  Town staff will have signage in place to direct Library patrons to the proper entrance.

ADA ELEVATOR INSTALLATION:  The Town has awarded a contract to Millennium Builders, Inc. of Rocky Hill for the installation of an elevator that will allow access to level 2, 3 and 5.  A vestibule will also be added on level 3.  The contractor has begun work and at this point there will be no access interruptions.

Library Parking (10/5/11)

For our Library patrons, to access the Library, please park in the back gravel parking lot behind the Town Hall.  If you prefer to park in the Church parking lot, the walkway to the Library will be closed.  Please walk in front of the Town Hall on the sidewalk but also be extremely careful because the historic sidewalk is uneven.

Town Hall Parking (9/28/11)

While the Town Hall parking lot is under construction and the drilling of geothermal wells will be taking place, there will be limited parking until approximately mid-December.  The parking spaces that we do have will be for customers only.  If there aren’t any parking spaces available, you can park in front of the building on the Tolland Green, near the Arts of Tolland Building or in the United Congregational Church parking lot.  If using the Church lot, please walk along the Green to our building.

Friday, Sept. 23^rd through at least Tuesday, Sept. 27^th, there will be major disruption to our back parking lot and entrance way (Old Post Road) due to tearing up of the parking lot pavement and commencement of geothermal well drilling.  You can access the parking lot through the Congregational Church driveway on the Tolland Green.  The Library will be open as usual on Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Also, please remember that the Town Hall is closed on Fridays.
