If you’re like me and you are itching to get outside and try out that new winter fleece or pair of electric socks … at the very least, to work off a few of those calories from the holiday feast(s)!

Checking the 5 day forecast, it looks like we may have a window of opportunity to get out and enjoy a Full Moon hike this Friday night, December 29, from 8-10PM  (Saturday night, snow date) at the King Riverside Conservation Area located on the south end of Town off of Rt 195 at 55 Dimock road. This is a relatively flat, 1.2 mile amble thru deciduous forests adjacent to the Willimantic River promising beautiful moonlit inspiration for last minute formulation of New Year’s resolutions. Shy of that, it should just be plain beautiful.

Returning to the parking area after our warm-up, the hearty and young at heart are welcome to linger for an astronomy tour of our winter constellations and brighter nebulae.

Sturdy boots with good ankle support and traction aids, hats, mittens and dress in layers will make this a memorable event for seasoned and newbie alike. Hiking pole(s) are highly recommended as the snow cover is just enough to make things slippery.

Happy Trails,

Bob Rubino, TCC Head Steward
