Trail Stepping Stones

The Eagle Scout project was to construct a stepping stone path through a 40 foot trail section of Schindler/Schmidt that gets wet after a rain storm. Some of the rocks used were found near the site.  The stones, bags of gravel, and tools were carried by the crew to the site in wheelbarrows. The ground was prepped and a base of gravel was prepared. Each stone was set into the gravel and then back-filled. About 20 stones were used. There have been several heavy rains since the event and the trail has been completely flooded, but the stepping stones allow for passage with perfectly dry feet. The first flooding revealed a few minor adjustments that needed to be made, and those corrections were made by a second work party. The stones are solid and are weathering the cold temperatures and wet conditions very well.  We also removed a fallen tree across the trail near the site and worked on better securing the wooden bridge across the stream near the Tiki Head Rock location.
