On April 3rd at 6:30 pm in the Program Room of the Tolland Public Library, Ivan Backer will speak about his book which is an autobiography of his life. As a ten-year-old, Ivan was put on one of Sir Nicholas Winton’s Kinder-Transport Trains to flee Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia for England. His book is the story of his escape, boyhood, and eventual life in America and the Hartford area. Ivan became a humanitarian and activist for peace and justice. There will be a questioning time at the end of the talk, and an opportunity to purchase books and have them signed.
