Due to restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, please call or email our office for new procedures for obtaining a marriage license.
Marriage licenses can be obtained in the Town Clerk's office in which the marriage is taking place for a fee of $50.00. Blood tests are no longer required in the State of Connecticut and there is no longer a waiting period after applying for your license.
When applying for a license, both parties must appear and provide proper identification such as a driver's license or passport. Be prepared to answer questions about where you were born, where your parents were born, your mother's full maiden name, the date and place of the ceremony as well as who will be officiating. Licenses are issued while you wait as long as all information is provided and the fee paid. For your convenience, you can complete the Marriage License Application prior to arriving in our office.
The ceremony must be performed within 65 days from the date of the application. If you wish your ceremony be performed by a Justice of the Peace, you will need to make those arrangments yourselves.
