Tolland Technology Zone
Overview
The Planning and Zoning Commission re-zoned a portion of Merrow Road (Route 195) as a "Technology Campus Zone". The intent is to better position Tolland to capture anticipated growth in the science and technology sectors spurred by UConn. The guiding principles for development in this zone include:
- Emulate a campus form with multiple buildings sharing parking and other amenities
- Encourage coordinated development between property owners
- Protect natural resources
- Promote sustainable design
- Provide pedestrian connections and pathways

In preparing the zoning regulations, the Commission examined the land in the zone and developed a model showing potential development examples. The intent of the model was to understand how much development might occur here - they are not actual development proposals.
